I cannot believe it has been 2 weeks since I last posted

I guess that is what having a tiny space

At an antique/gift shop will do to you

It seems as though it's been longer than 2 weeks

I work on items every single day

And drive to the shop at least 3 times a week

I'm trying to Stay Positive

So far, only 1 item has sold

I have added lots of little things for Christmas

My prayer is that this venture will bring JOY

Into my life and not disappointment

I've struggled with tears the last few days

But I'm putting positive thoughts in my head

And holding on to them

The time between my birthday and Christmas

When Mark passed, are tough ones for me

Working HARD at focusing on HIM

The JOY of this season that is now upon us

I do hope to share, in the days ahead

It Happened So Quickly

One day I was minding my own business

Serving time at jury duty

And the next thing I knew

I had signed a lease to open a space

At a local Antique/Gift Shop

WHAT??

Well, I had been thinking about it for several years

I had my name in (waiting list) at an Antique Mall

But I really hadn't prepared or gotten too excited

Because wait lists can be months long

And, quit frankly, I didn't think it would happen

Until, at least, after the first of the year

I got called to Jury Duty last Wednesday

After all of the panels had been seated

They didn't need me, so I was released for the day

I stopped by one of my favorite little shops

Just happened to talk to the owner

And, 15 minutes later, I had signed a lease

And told I could move in immediately

I had to go into overdrive to get something put together

I didn't have a shelving unit or anything

Found this wonderful gnome display at a yard sale Saturday

Didn't want the gnomes, just the shelf

They all came home with me

I guess they will be in my space in the spring :)

I had to cut one part of the unit off as it was a bit

Too long for my tiny space

I spent last night hand painting it

And this morning taking it to the space

And setting up just a few items

As you can guess

I have LOTS of work to do to fill up the space

And create some pieces for Christmas

But, it's a start to a MANY year dream

Actually, this is really the first thing I've dared dream about

Since losing My Mark almost 6 years ago

When It Rains and Random Things

Hello Sweet Friends

WOW

It has been a crazy few days

We Finally got some much needed rain

My yard is SO happy

My pool is a mess because

With the rain came a huge wind/dust storm

But I'm thankful for the rain

So, I'll just clean the pool

I picked up a couple of goodies at Goodwill on Tuesday

(Senior Day)

For $2

I love picking up little goodie bags

That the girls can use for crafting days

And I just couldn't pass up these s/p shakers

50 cents during the Christmas in July sale

Love them - or will past them along

Just too cute!

I had My 3 K's on Thursday

Can't believe it's the last Thursday of summer break

They head back to school tomorrow

Then it will just be K~Baby and I

I let the girls make cookies this past Thursday

I just stood back and took photos

I read the directions and let them do the rest

They very sweetly took turns adding ingredients

And mixing the dough

They have all grown up so much

I'm forever thankful for all of the Thursdays

God has given me over the past 12+ years

Working together

For a happy and sweet result

And yes, I let them eat several

Here they are in their ready for school T-Shirts

I miss them already

But, they do just live down the road

And then there was this

Matthew has been experiencing pain in his abdomen since Wednesday

Lower right quadrant but I knew it wasn't appendix

Because that ruptured 15 years ago

Finally decided to take him to ER on Saturday AM

And again on Sunday AM

With a final diagnosis of Epiploic Appendagitis

WHAT??

Basically, the fatty tissue left behind after his appendicitis

Has twisted and is causing severe pain

The doctor and surgeon both say it will eventually die

And absorb into the body

In the mean time

Mega doses of antibiotics and some pain medication

We are hoping he will be as good as new in a couple of days

They say surgery is elective and not necessary

I'm hoping they are right

Thank you for your continual prayers

By the Way

My BIL is doing fantastic after his triple stent surgery

And heading back to work tomorrow

 

God is More Than Good

Sweet Finds

Hello Sweet Friends

I thought I'd share a few treasures I have found in recent days

You may know I have been on the hunt

For Sea Glass

I still just have that one special piece

Well, today I took a mental health day

Went to a couple of my favorite shops

I was getting tired and almost didn't stop at the last place

But alas, I was close and it called my name

I am SO happy that I went it

Because, right as I walked in the door

I spied two sweet little jars

Filled with sea glass

Be Still My Heart

Since I had my 'April Showers - Bring May Flowers'

Discount flower with me

I bought both jars

Win~Win

I also picked up this little #2 fishing weight

To go with my #3

Love them hanging in my beachy office

I have never purchased a calendar plate

However, this one called my name

1981, the year I was married

Red Transferware, my favorite color

Yes, Please!

A Happy piece that I will treasure

A couple weeks ago I found this beauty

At a garage sale

I usually try to find #3

But I wasn't about to pass up this piece for $30

It sits beautifully on my kitchen counter

Next to my Magnolia Crock

And I found one more Treasure

Yesterday

In My Mailbox

No, it not sea glass

But this sweet, sweet mug and gift card

A mother's day gift from a far away friend

Whom I am growing to love more and more

She has blessed my heart several times

And when I found this, well, I cried

This blogging day mug will be used daily!!

Printer's Tray Re~Love

Hi Friends,

I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful weekend
Mine has been very busy, again!
I visited my mom yesterday and then went 
To my granddaughters 5th birthday party

However, in the midst I found time to paint
And complete the re~love of my printer's tray
 

Remember

This is the piece I purchased last weekend for only $18

 

When I first purchased it 

I wasn't positive of how I was going to use it

But I did know that it needed paint

So, I got out my Annie Sloan and went to work

It took about 1 1/2 hours to paint each coat

I only did two because I wanted to keep an older look

I chose NOT to paint the outside

I really love the vintage label with font size and type

And the great drawer pull with it's own 

Personality and character

I decided where I was going to use it

With a home of only 1150 square feet

I try to use my space wisely

So I had an idea to use a tiny strip of space with this tray

I'm not sure you can tell

But there is a small 4cm space between the 

bottom of the closet shelf and the 

Top of the shelving unit

It is between that space I decided to use the tray

 

I didn't have lots of time today to fill up the cubbies

But you will get the idea as you look at these photos

You know all of those bits and bobs

Buttons, ribbons, and items that you want to use

For numerous projects you have on your 'to do' list

Well, I decided to use this tray to put all of those items

Each type/color has it's own cubby

I am so very pleased with how this turned out

As you can see, I still have lots of room to fill up

And lots of colors to add

However, I Love what I see

And, I am hoping you can tell
That it fit perfectly on top of the shelving unit
I do not think I could have found any other piece
That would have fit in that 4 cm space
Especially an piece that will be so very handy
While I'm crafting and looking for just the right piece
To finish out a project

Which leads me to realizing that I have a project
In the works that needs to be in the mail soon
So, I better get to it
And you can bet that as I'm using bits and bobs 
For this new project
I will be placing the extras in it's new home

A Bit Random

Hi Friends,

Wow, I cannot believe it has been a week since I blogged 
It's just been a busy season at work
And my son had friends over all week
So, I guess I have been a bit preoccupied

I don't have a lot to share tonight
But I thought it was time to check in

How is everybody doing?
I hope to get by your blogs tonight!

I was at my mom's new home today

I'm continuing to help her get settled

She's doing so well

And Loving her new place

The above photo was taken in her back yard area

I'm not sure what type of flower this is

But they are blooming so beautifully right now

It was 117 yesterday and I think about the same today

I sure don't know how these flowers survive

But it was nice to sit outside and see something so pretty

Even in the heat of the day

Because I have been so busy with other things

I haven't taken much time to pamper myself

I felt like this afternoon was a good time

So, I took 30 minutes lighten my pearly whites

And another 30 minutes or so

To darken my not so pearly greys

And, a good time was had by {me}

On the way home from my mom's this afternoon
I stopped by Green Table Gifts
To pick up a couple items I needed to make my first
Pocket Letter Pals Set
AND ...
I found this beauty that I just couldn't come home without
It doesn't look very big in this photo
But it is 33 x 17
And the perfect size to be re-loved
For a project I have been wanting to do
And, best of all, it was only $18

Best Find

 Hi Friends,

I want to say thank you to everybody
Who stopped by the blog this past week
And left such fun and encouraging comments
On my Creative Space Post
It did my heart a world of good

This time of year is the 'off' season for
Thrifting and junkin' in the Phoenix area
It is just too HOT for garage sales
Or spending time running from shop to shop

However, once in awhile I stop by
One of our local thrift stores for a quick looksy

Last week I found the cutest Christmas Quilt
For only $2.99

It's lap size
4 ft by 3 ft
In Great shape
Perfect for a small table or the back of a chair

 Who could pass up a deal like that

So, I brought it to it's new home
I've laundered it and have it ready to store
Until the Holiday rolls around
Which, BTW
Is Not very far away

Where does the time go??

Happy Things

Hi Friends,

I hope you all enjoyed a 

Happy Mother's Day

And are walking joyfully through this new week

I stopped by one of our local Good Will stores today

I found this Longaberger Heart Basket

Longaberger baskets are signed

This one is from 2005

It is the Valentine Sweetheart Basket

 

It is in excellent shape

And still has the plastic separated liner

 And guess what I paid for it?

$2.25

 

Yes, that's correct $2.25

I checked on ebay and found the same piece for $85.00

Not planning on selling it

But I was Happy to know I got a smokin' deal

AND...In other news

Some of you may know that I've had a desire

To become a Pastor for Many years

I don't necessarily want to lead a church

But I've wanted to head up women's programs

Be able to baptize and teach Bible studies etc.

It is true that many churches do not recognize women as Pastor's

But some do

Many years ago I began taking classes to become a Pastor

But I never finished, however I always wished I had

After Mark passed away I let many of my dreams die with him

Yet in recent months I have begun to feel led to 

Become involved in ministry again

SO,

I registered with a National Church

AND...

I just received my Credentials in the mail

I am a legal, licensed, registered Minister

I can marry, bury, baptize, etc

I received my certificate, license and clergy parking permit

Most people won't think this is a big deal

But friends

I DO 

This is a Happy Day for Me

Now, may I encourage You to 

Find Happiness in something today

 

 

A Few Fun Finds And...

Hi Friends,

It's always fun for me to scan the aisles of a local thrift store

I had that pleasure the other day

And found a few little treasures

First

These little princess shoes

And a sweet brand new apron

K-Bel grabbed them as soon as she got here today

But K-Baby got to use them as well

 

These oval prints will go nicely in my Master bath

As soon as I do a little re-loving of them

Instead of the gold ring in the middle (see on the right)

I've started to add some silver/pewter  (see on the left)

It will match the new colors I'm adding in my bedroom

 

Speaking of my bedroom

I was SO happy to find a brand new pillow sham

Quilted white with small embroidered vines/flowers

The perfect shade of pewter

 

It just happens to match my new sheets perfectly

I can't believe it was only $3 

Brand new with tags :)

For just 74 cents

I found a great white piece of linen

With a nicely embroidered design

Could not pass this up

So, that's it for the finds

Because it's Thursday
