Estate Sale Treasures

Hi Sweet Friends

Tonight I thought I'd share a few treasures
That I found recently at an estate sale in my neighborhood

I totally fell in love with these two bunnies
They are about 20" tall
And, I think, are just adorable
They will be the centerpiece of my Easter/Spring vignettes

Almost everything else I chose had a red/white theme
Or Christmas

I picked up this sweet little step stool
I will probably keep it red for the holidays
But then it will most likely get a fresh coat of
Annie Sloan White for spring

I got 7 or 8 brand new dish towels for $3
And a really cute metal architectural piece

Among the treasures I brought home
Were two 6-7 inch long JOY signs
(I can Never have too much JOY)
And a jar of buttons along with a baggie of buttons

I also picked up two fun spindles from an old chair
And some really sweet holiday mini clothes pins

As you can see
I was definitely in a red/white mood
Fortunately they had plenty for me to choose from

Have you found any fun treasures lately
Do share

Be watching in the days ahead for my first post on my new blog

Blessings to All

Remote Caddy

Hello Friends
It's been a rainy weekend so I was able to
Work on a little project that has been waiting for some time

Last summer I found this little caddy at a garage sale
For just a couple of dollars
I knew I wanted to paint it
But it's been at the lower end of my project list

You can see it's just been sitting out in the garage
It was very dusty and pretty beat up

So I did give it a good cleaning
And let it dry

I decided to go out yesterday and put a quick
Coat of Kilz on it as a primer
When I say quick I mean quick
5 minutes and done

Today I ran over to Home Depot
Looking for paint I spied this little sample pot
In the oops pile
Hey, for 50 cents, how could I pass it up

And since it is Behr
I didn't think I could go wrong

I brought it all in the LR and while watching the NASCAR race
Which was happening just down the road from me
I decided to start painting

I put two coats on and was finished in no time at all

I added a few little 'keys' I had in a drawer
And voila - my new remote caddy is finished

I will keep my TV remotes in it
As well as nail files and clippers
(I use those items a lot at night while watching TV)
I also decided to put a small note pad and pen in it
So when I think of something I need to purchase or do
I can write it down
It seems the 'remember' part of my brain
Tends to 'forget' more often than not :)

Sure did love the rain this weekend
And enjoyed getting a small project done

Also,
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog
And leaving your comments and encouraging words
Stepping into the DIY, decor, project part of the blog world
Has been a bit intimidating for me
You have made it much more enjoyable
Thank you
Have a great week ahead

Fall - Der - Ah

After spending time helping my brother with his garage sale
Hanging out with my mom and sister in law
Helping my niece clean her house after she moved
I finally had a little time this afternoon
To pull out and put up a few fall decorations

I don't have a lot of decorations
But I did purchase this cross for my front door last year
Although I can see my screen needs to be cleaned
I still like it here

I've been putting these little scarecrows up for several years
Along the front walk up to my door
They just add a little cuteness to the plain front area

I may change this a bit
But I like the little doll I purchased last year
And this year I added just a few bits and pieces
I picked up from my brothers garage sale yesterday

I picked up this pumpkin at a garage sale a couple weeks ago for $1
I just put it on a glass platter and added a few fall leaves
It works nicely on my dining room table with a green table cloth

That's it for today
I will hopefully get a few more decorations up
Before it's time to decorate for Christmas :)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Weekend Treasures

For many in our country
Garage sale season is beginning to wind down
Summer is giving way to fall
And the weather is cooling off

Yet, here in AZ
The garage sale season is just starting
The temps are in the low 100's
And today we even had rain
I don't believe it hit 90

Saturday I took a quick tour of my neighborhood
Just to see if I could find anything 'special'

Check out my treasures...

My son needed a small stool
I was happy to find this one for only $1
I offered to paint it and 'boy' it up a bit
But he likes it just the way it is
YAY

Next
I found this brand new decorative pumpkin
Still has the tag attached
$1
I will definitely use this with my fall decorations this year

I also scored this nifty box
$2

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet
But, I'll find a great place for it

Then I hit pay dirt
This adorable little girls chair
Guess how much

$2
Yep, only $2
I will cover the name on the back with a little paint
And add it to my collection of items
That I will add when I complete
A playhouse in the backyard this fall

Finally
I love to get books at garage sale
Scored these 2 for only $1

My garage sale experience was great this weekend
6 super items
$7 spent
Awesome

And then...

I entered one of my photos
Into a contest
And guess what???
I WON!!

This beautiful set of Geoffrey Beene Luggage
Now resides in my home

Guess I better start planning a vacation :)
